Maternity Policy has to be mandatorily drafted by every employer in accordance with the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act 2017. The policy lays down the benefits and allowances provided to expectant mothers. It ensures the safety of the expectant mother and her child. Maternity leave for eligible employees is 26 weeks for women having less than two surviving children.
